8th Berlinale Co-Production Market (February 13-15, 2011)

September 16 2010

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to open the Call for Project Submissions for the 8th Berlinale Co-Production Market which will take place from Sunday to Tuesday, February 13-15, 2011, as part of the 61st Berlin International Film Festival.

Since its first edition in 2004, more than 40% of the projects selected for the Berlinale Co-Production Market have found partners and have gone into production ? more than 100 films until now. Many have already screened successfully in cinemas and at international festivals. This year, for example, THE HUNTER by Rafi Pitts, THE FAMOUS AND THE DEAD by Esmir Filho and SUSA by Rusudan Pirveli screened at the Berlinale, UNDERTOW/CONTRACORRIENTE by Javier Fuentes-Le?n won an Audience Award at Sundance and has just been theatrically released in the UK, and AURORA by Cristi Puiu was presented at Cannes. Previous successes include films like the 2008 Academy Award nominee MONGOL by Sergei Bodrov and LEBANON by Samuel Maoz which won the Golden Lion at Venice 2009.

Now we are again looking forward to find new projects ? fresh, promising and high-quality projects that we can matchmake with potential partners to help them on their way onto the big screen.

We are inviting experienced producers from around the world who are looking for international partners, to submit a project with 30% financing in place for the Berlinale Co-Production Market. Budgets can range between 2 and 10 million Euro (minimum budget for projects from countries in transition: 1 million Euro).

The deadline for project submissions is October 28, 2010.
The selection will be made by December 22, 2010 and will be published in January.

Attached please find the submission form and more detailed information along with the specific requirements for project submission. Please feel free to forward this information to other interested professionals. The submission form is also available for download at www.efm-berlinale.de
