/A Vancouver Island, NanaimoBC

Salary:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Hours of Work:

40 hours per week. Will include shift work, weekends.  Additional hours as required.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidates will be responsible for originating, shooting, writing, interviewing and presenting information to a television audience live and on tape as a general assignment reporter in the Nanaimo/mid-Island region.  Responsibilities include: 

?        Origination and execution of news story ideas, research, writing, interviewing, editing and on-air presentation.

?        Maintaining station?s on-air news look/newscast image and high journalistic/ethical standards.

?        Contributing the station?s social media and on-line content. 

?        Participating in daily story meetings.

?        Representing /A Vancouver Island in the community at fundraising and other events.

?        Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

?        A degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary broadcast program or equivalent with a minimum 2 years television news broadcast experience. 

?        Experience in ENG photography and editing equipment.  

?        Broad knowledge of news/current affairs, well-developed editorial judgement and visual sense.

?        Familiarity with Vancouver Island and province of British Columbia. 

?        Excellent storytelling and presentation skills. 

?        Strong on-air presentation, organizational, self-leadership/management, written/oral communication skills.

?        Demonstrated success in the development/implementation of creative concepts.

?        Well-versed in a variety of computer programs as well as having familiarity with the internet and social media. 

?        Ability to work effectively on several projects simultaneously.

?        Public relations/public service sense.

?        Must be available to work evenings and weekends as required.

?        Valid BC driver?s licence.
