What: On-Camera Weekend Intensive workshop - with Andrew McIlroy
When: Saturday, April 16th and Sunday, April 17th.
This weekend will allow for intensive scene work and individual attention, while focusing on the skill of on-camera auditioning and acting. Actors will review scenes and observe how they operate on-camera - with personal coaching to adjust what is needed to nail the audition process! Prior to the week end participants will receive TV/Film scripts and cold read material.
All classes are recorded by a professional casting camera operator,
on your own personal DVD for you to take.
Andrew McIlroy is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, in Montreal, and is one of Vancouver’s and Canada’s most highly respected acting instructors. He was the co-artistic director of the full-time program at the Gastown Actors Studio, in Vancouver, and is one of the most popular adjudicators requested by Theatre BC for festivals and workshops. He has taught as a faculty member at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, at Simon Fraser University, in Vancouver, and is currently an instructor with Vancouver Film School, Leap Studios, and Studio 3 Media.
Andrew is sought by producers, casting directors, and talent agents to personally coach lead characters in feature films and episodic television series. Andrew has worked with actors that can be seen in “Glee”, “90210”, “DEXTER”, “V”, “Hellcats”, “Flashpoint”, “Melrose Place”, “The Vampire Diaries”, “Weeds”, “Caprica”, “Harper’s Island”, “Human Target”, “War of the Worlds”, “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, “Fringe”, “LOST”, “Life Unexpected”, the upcoming feature “Red Riding Hood” and the new AMC Series “The Killing”.
As an actor, some of Andrew’s credits include recurring & guest roles on “Health Nutz”, “Psych”, “Fringe”, “Battlestar Galactica”, “Smallville”, “Supernatural”, “The Chris Isaak Show”, “Terminal City”,
“Blade: The Series”, “The L Word” and “Out Of Order” just to name a few.
As a theatre director, Andrew has been nominated for a Jesse Richardson award for his work on Michele Riml’s, “Poster Boys”. He also created the original production of the international hit, “Sexy Laundry”.
This past holiday season Andrew directed “A Christmas Carol”, to rave reviews and full houses, and in Spring 2011 will revive “Sexy Laundry”, both productions are for the Western Canada Theatre in Kamloops.
