ABOUT THE FILM:
It Is What It Is, a 7-minute film written by British author Adrian Reynolds, is about a man unused to the burden of responsibility. Much to his dismay, he now has to be there for his dying father, to whom he has a hard time relating. On his journey he finds strength in strange and unexpected places, like blacked-out goggles and electric clippers. A full script is available to read upon request.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
My name is Michael Stevantoni and this will be my 10th film. I am a grade 11 student at Carihi, and I am very experienced and passionate about filmmaking. I became interested in filmmaking from a very early age, starting by making films with Lego blocks and school friends. I quickly progressed to using professional actors when I was fourteen. My films have been shown at various international film festivals, claiming top awards at the Hollywood International Student Film Festival and the BC Student film festival, among others.
I spent the last year working on a half hour film titled ?The Brother?. It is almost complete and is currently being scored by a European composer.

CHARACTERS:
MITCH, GENDER: MALE, AGE: 20? 40s
Mitch is an arrogant and selfish man who is suddenly given the responsibility of caring for his dying father. He?s a cosmopolitan artist from the city, and he feels out of place in the relatively rustic atmosphere of his father?s life. He views the world through a dense lens of cynicism, and has the bad habit of alienating those who he sees as inferior.
Being Mitch would require you to have a full head of hair and be willing to shave it off in a scene. This is very crucial to the story and is part of Mitch?s path to understanding his
father. I would love to talk to you about this if you have any questions or concerns.
SOPHIE, GENDER: FEMALE, AGE 20-40s
Sophie is a witty, eclectic woman who deals with grief in her own sentimental fashion. She is not a weak person, and can see the humor in any dark situation. She has a playful relationship with her brother, Mitch, and does not begrudge the difficulty that is placed on her shoulders when her father gets sick.
GABBY, GENDER: FEMALE, AGE 20-40s
Gabby is a professional woman. She dresses seriously, and generally has a similar
deportment. However, there is a detectable undercurrent of deep thought and poignancy in her personality. She is going through a similar situation as Mitch, and helps him process the enormity of grief.
CAB DRIVER, GENDER: MALE, AGE 20-50s
He is the traditional conversationalist that drives you to your destination. He is a smalltown personality.
