Films for the Forest Adds $1,000 Prize
December 08 2014
The 2015 Films for the Forest (F3) call for submissions is now open! The theme for this year’s international film competition is ImaginEarth, and we hope it will inspire filmmakers both novice and professional, and of all ages, to create and submit a forest-related short film. Created by the non-profit Rainforest Partnership in 2009, the goal of this competition is to create awareness of the challenges facing forests and their communities.
This year is especially exciting because, for the first time, F3 will award the Peace Love & Happiness Award, a $1,000 cash prize. Sponsored by JP’s Peace Love & Happiness Foundation; this award will go to the winning film in the Short Shorts category. The judges this year include Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater, who has been a judge of F3 since its inception. Official Selections will be screened as a part of the SXSW Film Festival Community Film Screenings in Austin, and films under four minutes long are preferred.
Please help us spread the word as we encourage people around the world to learn about forests and apply that knowledge to create a short film. You can find more information at the F3 website. For details and to submit a film, go to the F3 entry page at Withoutabox. If you have any questions that aren’t answered there, please email us at info@rainforestpartnership.org.
Happy Filmmaking,
