OPEN CASTING CALL SEARCH - “THE SELECTED WORK OF T.S. SPIVET?

Young male actors wanted:
Casting Lucie Robitaille (Incendies, Source Code, The Barbarian Invasions, etc.) is casting the lead roles for Jean-Pierre Jeunet?s (Am?lie, The City of Lost Children, Alien Resurrection) next feature film The Selected Works Of T.S. Spivet ? an adaptation of Reif Larsen?s best-selling novel. The film is a coproduction between Montreal-based production company BBR-Filmarto and France?s ?pith?te. Filming will take place from July to October 2012 in Alberta, Montreal and Washington DC.
We are looking for young boys aged 7-12 years old for the lead role of T.S. (10-12 years old Caucasian) and the supporting role of Layton (7-9 years old Caucasian). STORYLINE: T.S. Spivet lives on a ranch in Montana with his mother who is obsessed with the morphology of beetles, his father (a cowboy born a hundred years too late) and his 14 year-old sister who dreams of becoming Miss America. T.S. is a 12 year-old prodigy with a passion for cartography and scientific inventions. One day, he receives an unexpected call from the Smithsonian museum telling him that he is the winner of the very prestigious Baird prize for his discovery of the perpetual motion machine and that he is invited to a reception in his honor where he is expected to give a speech. Without telling anyone, he sets out on a freight train across the U.S.A. to reach Washington DC. There is also Layton, the younger brother who died in an accident involving a firearm in the family?s barn, which no one ever speaks of. T.S. was with him, measuring the scale of the gunshots for an experiment, and he doesn?t understand what happened.
Only pre-selected candidates will be called for an audition. We will then let you know the location, the date and the time for your audition. All children must have their parents? authorization before submitting for this project.
