Two Japanese films to be shown in Campbell River Sept. 27

The Japan Foundation aspires to the role of catalyst for international exchange throughout the world, presenting valuable and appealing aspects of Japanese culture to other countries and promoting mutual understanding with peoples around the world.

The Japan Foundation Toronto chose Campbell River as one of the cities where it wanted to show two Japanese films to the citizens of Campbell River and area. Admission is free or by donation. Proceeds will benefit the Campbell River Hospital Foundation. The theatre will be open at 4:30 p.m.- 5 p.m. - The Battery - Future in Our Hands (Batterii) - PG (violence). Japanese with English sub-titles.A talented 12-year-old pitcher displays his love for his team, friends, and family!

- 7 p.m. - Memories of Matsuko (Kiraware Matsuko no Isshoo) - PG (sexually suggestive scenes; violence; coarse language). Japanese with English sub-titles

The story begins with Sho cleaning out the remaining belongings of his recently deceased aunt Matsuko.

Sho gradually learns many details of his aunt’s life, and it is through his investigations that the audience learns the story of Matsuko’s past.
