Insurrection Films is proud to bring Jason long to Vancouver Island for a 2 day intensive writing session.
Screenwriting Bare Bones and Creating Killer Characters
This two day workshop is in-class writing intensive and geared towards novice to intermediate screenwriters.
DAY 1:
Day One of the session will be full of writing exercises geared towards developing memorable onscreen characters. Participants will also view and read scenes from films where characters leave lasting impressions.
DAY 2:
Day two of the session focuses on character/scene work participants are assigned between workshop days, the rewriting process, and ultimately how to get your characters to solve your plot dilemmas in your screenplay.
Participants will be expected to have prepared a short scene, concept, character, or idea to expand upon for Day One. There will also be a short writing assignment(homework!) between Day One and Day Two.
Jason Long- Has co-written two screenplays for the Canadian feature films Turning Paige(Which received 4 Genie Nominations) and Walk All Over Me(Starring Tricia Helfer and Leelee Sobieski.) When he?s not writing, Jason is Director of Development with local Calgary film company Full Swing Productions and is working as a story editor and script analyst on several film and television projects in Alberta. He has also written plays for Lunchbox Theatre, Quest Theatre, and Calgary Young People?s Theatre, and is a graduate of The National Theatre School Of Canada.
