Youth Film Slam

Ever wanted to make a movie? Be part of a production team? Have the tools, skills and tricks of the trade so that you could go out and make your own killer flick?

Character Driven Media and Spotlight Academy have combined forces to provide you with a unique opportunity to be involved in our first annual Behind The Lens Film Slam for budding filmmakers, actors and editors. If you have an interest in any aspect of the craft this is your chance to be part of a production team that will be putting together an actual movie in less than 50 hours.

Spotlight Academy, owned by renowned actor Adrian Hough, will be providing the ‘talent’ with the skills and training needed to put together a stellar performance while Joan Herron of Character Driven Media will be giving an overall workshop for ‘behind the scenes’ production team members, beginning on Wednesday June 8th in preparation for the big weekend.

We’ll go from initial concept to final frame, beginning on Friday June 10th at 6 pm and ending on Sunday June 12th at 8 pm, with the movie screening for parents and friends at 7 pm on Monday June 13th at Nanaimo Centre Stage, followed by our ‘Awards Ceremony’.

Costume Designers

Director
Production Assistant
Editors

Applications are now being considered, so if you’re between 13 and 18 years of age and want to be part of this amazing weekend, sign up on www.characterdriven.comand join the Film Slam group. You can post your reasons for wanting to be part of the production team in any of the capacities above on the discussion board. We’ll be choosing our cast and crew based on your enthusiasm and ideas- and a little experience is always an asset.

Those who are chosen will pay a registration for the pre-production workshops and Film Slam is $200.00 (plus HST) and includes a DVD and two free tickets to the film screening on Monday, June 13th.
